MS: The Cowichan Grape Escape.

Cycling to the farms and wineries in the Cowichan Valley sounds appealing to you ?  What if it were to raise money to fight against MS.  There is a group from the Gabriola Lions that are going to participate in this two day event on July 5/6 2014.  One of our close friends has MS and we'd love if they could find a cure, so that her life and the 100,000 Canadians living with it, could enjoy a pain free life as well.  If you'd like to sign up and join us for a great weekend, please visit the Grape Escape website : http://www.cowichanvalleygrapeescape.com/

Our Company is turning 30 this year and we're celebrating!

Coast Realty's celebrating 30 years in business!

We are proud to work for a local company that has been in business serving clients for 30 years.  There are approximately 200 people that work under the Coast Realty umbrella, the largest independent company operating on Vancouver Island.   We work with an amazing group of people, and we've (the Lynch group) asked the Realtors ® and staff in the other offices to let us know of a charity that they are involved in or contribute to, and we'll send them a "Coast Realty celebrating 30" vehicle decal that we've had custom designed.  Keep your eyes open, you might see a few more Coast Realty logos on the road!

Native Plants on the Gulf Islands

Tomorrow (May 27th), our Coast Realty Office will be closed and all the Realtors ® and staff will head over to the Gabriola Museum give back to the community by caring for the Native Plant garden at the Museum. I thought I would get a head start and do a little web research about a few of the native plants I’ve seen on walks and came across the Chocolate Lily (one of my favourites) on the The Garry Oak Ecosystems Recovery Team (GOERT) website. The website has great information on how to beautify your garden with native plants, remove invasive plants and restore Garry Oak Habitat. It also lists nurseries on Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands that supply native plants. If you’re on the island this summer stop by the Museum to view some of Gabriola’s native plant species.

The tree that became your table!

Clients of ours recently told us about a Vancouver Island company called Live Edge Design
(www.liveedgedesign.com) that make spectacular west coast furniture. They salvage trees brought down by storms or left by forest companies. They incorporate "the living edge", the layer behind the bark into most of the designs, and often follow the organic lines of the tree.
The tables are a piece of art on their own, but you can also find the history of your furniture and use google earth to pinpoint the location where the tree came from. The company will provide you with the GPS location, and accompanying story books are available on request.
Can you imagine sitting around one of thees gorgeous dinning room tables, enjoying a meal and conversation with friends, and being able to tell them the history of the tree that became your table!
